That’s a Wrap on 2022

What a year it’s been!

After moving in 2021 I finally got to set my longarm back up in July of 2022. While the Studio is still under construction I was able to set up temporarily in one of the bedrooms and get back to what I love the most! Moving can be hard for a small business but I’ve been so lucky (and extremely thankful) to my amazing friends / customers who have followed me here and for the support of my new community.

Over the holidays I took some time to do some sewing and some relaxing. I hope you did too!

I finally used my Embroidery machine and made this cute Tea Towel from Kimberbell, this was from the “We Whisk You a Merry Christmas” line. This was great practice and now I’m excited to try more designs. I’ve started watching Kimberbells “What’s new Wednesday” on Youtube and am really inspired by some of the projects she’s been showing.

I quilted (ready for gifting) my Summer Mystery Quilt from Laundry Basket Quilts. I was not sure how it was going to come together but Edyta gave great advice on colour (tone) selections for fabric and it turned out amazing. This is a picture of our girl Charlie making herself comfortable.

In the last picture is the Patchwork Duffle Bag by Knot and Thread. I had been collecting fabrics and supplies for this since early Fall so the break was a great time to tackle that one. I’m not going to lie, it came together easier than I ever though it would. My biggest challenge was adding the binding to the inside edges but other than that, this was a blast. I made a couple of Holland Pouches as well, one I gifted and the other is a mate for my new Duffle bag. Looking forward to using this! (hint hint Mr. Brown…… a trip would be nice).

Now I’m planning my goals for 2023, there are quilts to make and quilt shops to visit! Early in the Spring I have plans to do a quilt shop tour … The main destination being Primitive Gatherings in WI. I’ll be making lots of stops along the way and I’d love to hear any suggestions for any quilt shops in Southern Ontario, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

I will be participating in the Fat Quarter Shop Barn Star Sampler QAL which starts in about a week. Check out The Jolly Jabber Blog for all the details. I purchased the download book and will be taking it to Staples to be printed, this is a year long QAL so it will come in handy. I have yet to pick my fabrics for this one…. I’m inspired by the Scrappy feel and would LOVE to use up some of my stash but the fabric requirements for this are pretty extensive and I’m sure I’ll have to supplement (shucks eh? another trip to my local quilt shop).

I wish you all luck in achieving your quilty goals this year and if you need help putting the final quilting touches, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be thrilled to help you!
